Family holidays on the Sunny Side of the Alps

The Ritten is a sunny plateau in the heart of South Tyrol. Through its gentle landscape, mild climate and the 1000 wonders that there are to discover, the Ritten has become their “Family Mountain” for many small and large guests.
The Earth PyramidsThe Earth PyramidsThe Ritten Earth Pyramids are columns of earth which are left standing after erosion.  The pyramids are washed out of the earth by rain.  Under a capping stone the pyramids form and are protected as if wearing a hat.  As soon as the stone falls the days of the pyramid are numbered…as mud columns with a hat our pyramids may be the story of witches turned to stone!more information
The Ritten narrow-gauge railwayThe Ritten narrow-gauge railwayClimb aboard! The little Ritten railway is ready to go.  From Oberbozen to Klobenstein, the two main stations, it is only 6 kilometres.  The old “Ritten lady” will celebrate her 110th birthday in 2017 and still really appeals to her passengers.
To preserve our elderly rolling stock the Swiss tramcars from the Trogener railway are also in use, as many more passengers can be carried in their double cars.

The Apiculture or Honey MuseumThe Apiculture or Honey MuseumThe Plattnerhof, one of the oldest farm houses on the Ritten, stands in Wolfsgruben.  The original furnishings have been kept to give the visitor an opportunity to learn how the Ritten farmers lived in the old days.  But not only that, also the “World of Bees” fascinates both young and old.more information
The Rittner HornThe Rittner HornThe cable car with cabins goes from Pemmern to the Schwarzseespitze.
From here there are a large number of possible walks on the upper plateau of the Ritten.  The apparently endless meadows and the limited variance in altitude, as well as the unique views of the Dolomites make a trip up here a really worthwhile experience.
Close to the Schwarzseespitze – at the reservoir – are a small maze among the pine trees, and a Kneipp basin, which is a stony paddling pool allowing you to cool and massage your feet.
